Filmmaking: A Cardiovascular Exercise

Documented Joshua B from Bingspot last night for four hours. He was running around town taking pictures and hosting events and when I say running around town I mean actual running.
Because I only had access to my wireless Lav. I decided to just unplug my Beachtek audio-adapter when I wanted crowd/natural sounds. By unplugging the adapter, the camera's internal mic would kick in. -food for thought for filmmakers who can only afford a lav.

Mic-ro-phone

I am returning my new microphone. The AudioTechnica AT875R runs on phantom power and my beachtek audio adapter doesn't transmit phantom power so no I have to figure out what to do for a mic tomorrow t the First Friday shoot. I guess I'll mic up Joshua B with my wireless lav and when he's not talking I'll unplug the beachtek and use the built-in mic.

soon enough I'll have all the right gear and I'll know how to use it correctly and I'll have everyone signed on. then I can just focus on the creativity part for a while.

Quickie

I had a meeting with Sean from VINES and he agreed (as long as Lauren also agrees) to let me document them for the next six months. From what he said it's a lot of really visually appealing stuff like prepping land and marketing their crops etc.

BAM! Shortest post thus far. You're Welcome.

Self-analyzed

I made a discovery yesterday at my meeing with the guys from Bingspot (which went great). I was talking about how I came to Ny from Columbia Missouri, a town a lot like Bing but revived. then I said "Oh, another revitalized town I've lived in is Pittsburgh Pennsylvania." then I went "WOAH" I have discovered the hidden reason I want to make this documentary. How crazy is it that I'm this far into the process and have just now discovered why. Bing has potential, I can see it. I've seen it before and i loved my other two towns and I love Binghamton but it hurts me to see how much this city hurts and I want to show every town with potential that IT CAN HAPPEN! I almost said "it gets better" but that slogan has been taken.

Anyway my polarized filter arrived today, woohoo!

Short post. Have a Great Day.

2/4

Howdy yall, Just got back from my first meeting with the guys from BingSpot.com and they are on board. I'm still trying to figure out how to document real life without making it formulaic: B-Roll, interview, action shot, interview, etc...

How do you do this!!!!! I've got to the documenting part and don't know how to do it. isn't that what making a documentary is?

turns out that's not it at all, but it's art of it.

Oh! I got my new mic today. It's a AudioTechnica AT875R. Woohoo!

I tried to map out the next few months for ZONA and BingSpot today, asked a bunch of general questions, took notes. etc. I've realized there is no path before me, I have run off the trail and now I need to make a bridge of concrete through this river of information. Right now I'm learning how to create the concrete.

I discovered a new way of interviewing today (at least for me). You make a list of questions you want to ask and label them Q1, Q2, etc. and when you're interviewing you don't have to ask them in order or even as separate questions, but if your subject addresses parts of Q3 whilst answering Q1, just make a little "Q3" mark above that note.

That's all for today, I need to study for a test because... I am in college...

Thanks for reading!
