Fear

Just watched the Budgeting 101 Livestream hosted by Tribeca Film Institute and Time Warner. They were talking about how necessary insurance is and how you can't sell a movie without it and line producers (what's that?) and taxes (Idk S&!t about taxes) and 501C3 sponsorships and contingencies and how you're lucky if you make much money and AAHHH!!! How am I supposed to know all of this stuff??? My university should have a Policy and Law of Filmmaking class... but we don't.

Hopefully I don't figure this all out the hard way

Update to Last Post

It WAS about a property restoration and now I am officially done with R&D! Time to focus completely on production :)

Ps. The property is probably the perfect one for me. it's an old mansion and it's run down and torn up and the owner is going to fix it up but try and keep it looking like it's supposed to.

Happy Day

Mystery E-mail

I received an e-mail just now titled "address" Project. It has the actual address but I'm going to assume it's not ok to give out actual addresses on the internet. Anyway, I am familiar with the address, it's a really impressive property. The catch is that the contents of the e-mail were simply "You can contact me on my cell (and the number) or via e-mail but I don't check my e-mail that often"
That's it! that's all it said. Have I found the fourth and final character for my documentary? Is this spam? Wrong address? Nothing? Something? hahaha there's only one way to find out. I'm going to call the number after I get out of work and see what's up. I know I've blogged before about hope but I'm hoping this is the last step in my R&D stage and I can be fully immersed in production.

Yesterday I was thinking about filmmaking and I realized this is the first time I've felt like an identity fits me 100%. I am still worried about how to make a living but I am completely confident in my career choice.

I thought of another documentary idea today. they just keep building up and I've made a collection of them so if I hit a time when I am seeking a project to work on I can turn to this folder of ideas and pick the one most relevant and start from there. Conception is very fun when it works out and very frustrating when it doesn't.

WOHHOOOO

Have a great weekend everybody I'll keep you updated.

Ps. I have an interview with Mike Tulsey from Zona tomorrow afternoon and I think I'll get some really good footage from that.

Pps. I categorized all the VINES footage and am showing the best bits to my adviser at the beginning of next week.

Basically a second blog entry now, but based on my plans for the ZONA interview and my VINES footage I think I'm getting the hang of this!

Again, WOHHOOOO

Ok, I'm done.

In the Meanwhile

My friend Jessi J has agreed to teach me the basics of HTML so I can update my blog by myself instead of asking someone to do it for me. I need to get a new video up and stuff like that. We're also trying to get a "subscribe" feature so you get notifications when I post (if you want).

I now have my complete rig, consisting of Camera, Beachtek, Wireless Lav, Shotgun Mic, Hotshoe extender and adapter, and Tripod.
I want to make a stabilization rig to reduce the shakiness from my hands, but I'd be making it out of PVC and it would make my rig seem significantly less legit. = less respectable.

I don't have too much to say, trying to watch more Docs as research but good docs are hard to find.. let alone for free. The market is so saturated with poor quality.

Talked to my Independent study adviser today and need to edit together a sampling of the footage I have so far and show it to him next week so we can talk about my composition and technique in a little more detail.

That's really all I have to report right now.

Signing off.
